Key details are that:

• all customisations must be backed up prior to applying the patch, and restored afterwards
• a specific Update Installer version must be used: The WebSphere Update Installer for Lotus Connections Version 2.5.0.1 is required. (ID: download.updii.2501.multi.00001, File name: LotusConnectionsUpdateInstaller.zip)
• in a clustered environment, downtime is still required to apply the patch for the time being
